Amy Howe reportedly steps down as FanDuel CEO after 5 years

FanDuel’s Chief Executive Officer of five years, Amy Howe, has stepped down from the post, as per a report by CNBC, citing sources.

FanDuel President Christaina Genetski is reportedly going to step in as the interim leader for the company, while FanDuel looks for a permanent replacement. Howe is one of the few female leaders in the gambling industry to preside over one of its largest companies, and has been compared to Jette Nygaard-Anderson, the now-former Entain CEO, and Denise Coates, the chief executive over at the privately held bet365. Howe stepped into the position in 2021, and she has been a driving force behind many of the recent changes across the company, along with its sustained growth in market share across the US betting landscape, while also pushing further into iGaming. Under her stewardship, FanDuel launched its prediction market spinoff, FanDuel Predicts, designed to further explore the emerging field and close gaps with competitors such as Kalshi and Polymarket. Flutter CEO Peter Jackson has similarly confirmed in an interview with CNBC that the company, which owns FanDuel, is planning a further $300m investment push to make FanDuel Predicts even more prominent operationally. CNBC also cited a goodbye note shared by Howe internally, in which she encouraged women in the company and industry to keep supporting each other and raising the bar, and told all her colleagues in general to use their voice as they had merit, and the company should listen to them. Among Howe’s memorable achievements is her commitment to responsible gambling and refusal to advertise in college stadiums or sign up college athletes for branding deals.
