The fast-growing global entertainment company with nearly two dozen casinos across the United States, Bally’s Corporation, continues the construction of its landmark property, Bally’s Chicago.

The company plans to open its Illinois property early in 2027

The ambitious project, which has a price tag of nearly $2bn, hit a major milestone late last week with the topping-off ceremony celebrating the placement of the final structural beam of the permanent casino. The recent milestone comes ahead of the planned opening of Bally’s Chicago which is expected to welcome its first guests in the spring of 2027. Staying true to traditions, Bally’s organized the signing, lifting and placement of the final beam of the permanent casino, taking the project closer to becoming a reality. Upon completion, Bally’s Chicago will offer 173 table games, as well as 3,400 of the most popular slot machines. Close to a dozen food and beverage outlets, developed in collaboration with Levy Hospitality, as well as a 3,000-seat entertainment theater and event center, will ensure supreme experiences to visitors to the new hotel and casino resort. The venue will also offer a hotel tower with 500 rooms and a rooftop bar, 3,300 parking spaces, as well as a range of public outdoor spaces that help connect River West and the Near West Side to the Chicago River. The project has a price tag of approximately $1.7bn and represents a redevelopment of the former Chicago Tribune Freedom Center site, which spans 30 acres.

Bally’s is proud of the progress and looks forward to the next phase of the project

The construction milestone attracted a range of high-profile visitors, including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Bally’s Executive Chairman, Soo Kim, Alderman Walter Burnett Jr., as well as representatives of unions, local leaders and members of the Chicago Community Builders Collective. Kim spoke with excitement about the accomplishment and said: This is a significant milestone for Bally's Chicago and reflects the incredible effort of the union trades and partners who have made this moment possible. We're proud of the progress to date and excited to move into the next phase as we deliver a one-of-a-kind destination for the people of Chicago, the executive added. The transformation of the site seeks to make Bally’s Chicago a go-to riverfront destination and attract tourists from across the state and the country. During construction alone, more than 1,000 temporary jobs have been created. On the other hand, once completed, Bally’s Chicago will create some 3,000 permanent jobs, boosting local communities.
