BetBlocker goes ahead with the Japanese version of its software
BetBlocker is advancing its mission to offer support in as many languages as possible, recently adding French and Catalan versions. Now, the tool is available in Japanese, marking a significant milestone for the charity as it potentially reaches 123 million Japanese speakers, many of whom were involved in gambling as of 2019. According to the organization, approximately 4.4 million people in Japan experience gambling-related issues. The nonprofit has collaborated with both private and public partners to expand its multilingual offerings. For the Japanese release, BetBlocker expressed special thanks to Kenta Shintani for his pro bono contributions. BetBlocker's team is optimistic about the positive impact this new version will have on Japanese citizens. Duncan Garvie, the founder and trustee, celebrated the achievement, noting the charity's growing momentum and successful language expansions in recent months. While many translations were initially focused on European languages, the organization is now broadening its reach. BetBlocker has benefited from the support of community-oriented individuals like Shintani, who have contributed resources to help achieve the charity's ultimate aim: making the tool accessible to anyone needing to better manage their gambling habits in their native language. Previously, with assistance from Francesco Casartelli, a Safer Gambling Analyst, BetBlocker had also launched its tool in Italy.
BetBlocker seeks to address problem gambling beyond exclusion
BetBlocker has made significant progress by launching its version in the United States market in early March, coinciding with Problem Gambling Awareness Month, an annual initiative. The organization has also partnered with the University of Nevada Las Vegas and its International Gaming Institute to enhance its research programs with a more evidence-based approach to studying addiction and gambling issues, moving beyond anecdotal evidence. Recently, BetBlocker appointed John Wright and Darrell Helyarto to its Board of Trustees, praising both as key contributors to the charity’s success.
