French becomes the 20th language supported by BetBlocker
The introduction of the BetBlocker app in France is timely, coinciding with the country's potential expansion of gambling legislation. BetBlocker has consistently emphasized the significance of providing responsible gambling and self-exclusion services in a player's native language. For instance, in the United Kingdom, the app launched in several Eastern European languages because BetBlocker recognized that some immigrants might struggle to fully access available resources in English. In a notable development, BetBlocker also released a regional version in Catalan and expanded its efforts to the US charity sector. The recent inclusion of French increases the app's available language options to 20. In France, where there are approximately 34 million gamblers, it is crucial to offer protection, according to the charity. Duncan Garvie, BetBlocker's Founder and Trustee, expressed his satisfaction with the new app version's availability to French-speaking regions and countries with partial French adoption.
BetBlocker takes strides to back gambling research and operate in more markets
Garvie recently conducted a LinkedIn poll asking his followers if BetBlocker should begin charging a small fee for its services. The majority of respondents—56 in total—believed the app should remain free (86%), while 14% understood the rationale for generating additional revenue. BetBlocker has primarily relied on third-party funding to support new language launches, which enable the app to reach more users and assist those struggling with compulsive gambling. BetBlocker has been effective in providing this support. Recently, BetBlocker released a Portuguese version of the app and appointed two additional trustees, who have played a key role in the charity's success. In March, BetBlocker also established its U.S. charity and expanded its focus on evidence-based research by funding the UNLV’s International Gaming Institute.
