BETER, a company known for offering betting content, data, and live streaming services, has become a Tier 1 Anti-Corruption Supporter of the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC). This global organization is committed to eliminating fraud and crime in competitive video gaming. The growing popularity of esports has attracted criminal syndicates, who often attempt to entice players into participating in match-fixing.
Corruption in esports is a real threat, but ESIC has an action plan in place
By joining ESIC, BETER aims to strengthen the independent watchdog's efforts to eliminate unethical practices and promote data and best practice sharing across borders to combat fraud in both esports and esports betting. This approach is similar to how the International Betting Integrity Association collaborates with its members to identify suspicious betting activity. Fraud in esports betting is more prevalent than many believe. In some regions, such as Australia, authorities treat match-fixing in electronic sports as a criminal activity, with competitors facing arrest and prosecution. As a member of ESIC, BETER will support the watchdog's monitoring and intelligence operations. With 36,000 monthly esports events under its management, BETER will significantly contribute to the extensive database of events monitored for malpractice. The company is committed to ensuring that all listed events are closely monitored for potential collusion and match-fixing. Through its Integrity BOOTCAMP program, BETER has maintained vigilant oversight of its esports events and developed a comprehensive reporting system that enables it to detect irregularities. To date, less than 0.01% of its events have been flagged as problematic by its in-house team.
BETER focused on esports integrity and keeping close tabs on its events
BETER's Chief Integrity Officer, Andrii Nekrutov, has expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with ESIC to ensure that the company’s ESportsBattle tournaments meet the regulator’s high standards for integrity while enhancing the regulator’s ability to monitor events.
