Evolution is closer than ever to concluding its legal battle with a now partially unidentified party, though the company still has more details to uncover. Recently, in the ongoing legal proceedings, a court in New Jersey decisively ordered the law firm Calcagni & Kanefsky LLP (C-K), representing the report's authors, to disclose the names of the individuals responsible for the report, now identified as the Israeli private intelligence firm Black Cube.

Evolution has yet to find vindication, as it must wait longer to potentially discover the identities of those who commissioned the controversial report. This report, potentially compiled by Black Cube, plunged Evolution into turmoil by alarming investors and erasing $3 billion in value upon its release to the media in 2021. The report accused Evolution of supplying its products and games to illegal and offshore gambling websites, which targeted areas where Evolution had existing contracts and licenses with regulated operators. Despite these serious allegations, Evolution was exonerated following extensive investigations by major regulators, including the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. This cleared the way for legal action against the anonymous parties responsible for the company's financial distress. Though identifying Black Cube as the report's author is significant, many questions remain unanswered. Calcagni & Kanefsky LLP has pointed out that the entity or entities that commissioned the report are still unknown, indicating Black Cube's role was to provide services to a client instead of acting independently. Speculation suggests that a major competitor of Evolution might have instigated the legal challenges to gain a competitive edge.

Calcagni & Kanefsky LLP has announced its intention to fully comply with the court order by providing additional details regarding the individuals responsible for the report, once these details are received from Black Cube. C-K has requested this information from Black Cube and will update its interrogatories accordingly. C-K is already aware of the identities of certain Black Cube employees or representatives who were involved in the investigation that informed the report. Black Cube is likewise required to disclose the names of employees or other entities associated with the report's creation. Though the complete list is still pending, some participants on Black Cube’s team include Alex Gorelik, Head of Investigations; Romy Martin, General Counsel; and Dr. Avi Yanus, Director. In parallel developments, Evolution is pursuing legal action against Calcagni & Kanefsky LLP, alleging wrongdoings in the discovery process and undue delays. As Evolution nears the revelation of the full identities behind the report, a further delay is inevitable before they can confront their accuser in person.
