An Iowa woman experienced a delightful surprise when she made a stop to purchase some ice and ended up winning $100,000 in a popular scratch-off ticket game. Earlier this week, the Iowa Lottery announced that the Fort Dodge resident had claimed one of the top prizes from its Silver Streak scratch-off ticket.

A 36-year-old woman shared that while driving her children to their dentist appointments, she decided to stop at a gas station for drinks. Unfortunately, the store was out of ice, so she headed to another location. She then stopped at the Coalville Stop-N-Shop at 23930 Boies St., near Fort Dodge. It was there that she remembered having a $20 winning lottery ticket to cash in. At the cash register, the teller asked if she wanted to purchase more Silver Streak tickets. She responded enthusiastically, Sure, give me two Silver Streak tickets. To her astonishment, she scratched one of the tickets and discovered a $100,000 prize! Overcome with emotion, she nearly cried as she shared the thrilling news with her children after scratching the ticket in her car. I don't know how it happened, but it did. I always hoped I would win someday. Everyone dreams of hitting it big when they buy scratch tickets, she confessed. Earlier this week, she visited the Lottery's regional office in Mason City to claim her prize. When asked about her plans, she expressed her intention to take her family on a vacation and pay off some loans.
