One ticket holder takes home a multi-million-dollar Powerball prize

The fortunate winner, described as a woman in her 70s, purchased her 7-game entry at BP Prahran, located at 500 Malvern Road in Prahran. Entering Powerball drawing 1541 on Thursday, November 27, 2025, the Prahran mum emerged as the winner, holding the single division one winning entry. On Thursday, the winning numbers were 2, 17, 11, 9, 19, 28 and 24, along with the important Powerball number 1. The incredibly fortunate Melbournian mum, whose identity wasn't publicly disclosed, won a life-changing AU$5m ($3.3m). The victorious Victorian marks the latest division one win from The Lott. So far, in 2025, the division one winning tally has grown to 387, and it is highly likely that number to surpass 400 by the end of the year. Division one winning entries from Powerball have awarded more than AU$636m ($416.7m) in prize money for FY25, The Lott said. The latest jackpot win comes after last week, a Brisbane woman in Mount Gravatt couldn't stop shaking after another AU$5m Powerball win.

"You've just changed my life!"

Contacted early on Friday by The Lott, the fortunate woman admitted that she was in shock. Highlighting that winning AU$5m is life-changing, the woman thanked the lottery official and said: It feels like I'm still in a dream. The lucky winner's son was with her when she heard the good news. While laughing, he said: Oh my god. It's f****** amazing. My mum has just told me not to swear – ha. The winner's son said that his mother is a hard-working person even in her 70s but thanks to the life-changing prize, she won't have to work anymore. Asked about her plans for the unexpected windfall, the woman said she will give some money to her son and daughter in Australia and then wire some more to her son who is abroad. Using the lottery winnings, she also said she will buy an apartment and enjoy life. Finally, she once again thanked the lottery for the mind-blowing prize.
