Earlier this week, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) discovered an illegal gambling operation at a local arcade. This investigation began when police responded to a report of an assault and possible kidnapping. Upon arriving at Lucky Seven Arcade, located at 5105 Reagan Drive, officers uncovered numerous illegal gambling machines. With assistance from the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Unit, it was confirmed that these machines were operating illegally, violating the state's gambling regulations. In a statement, the CMPD reported: Officers observed illegal gaming machines inside the business and, assisted by CMPD’s Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Unit, an investigation showed that the gaming machines at Lucky Seven Arcade violated North Carolina gambling laws.

Suspects arrested and charged

Law enforcement discovered and confiscated 55 illegal gambling stations at an arcade venue. Approximately $24,000 in U.S. currency, along with electronic equipment and other devices necessary for the operation of the illegal casino, were also seized. In addition to the illicit gambling machines and money, CMPD found and confiscated three firearms. Two employees of the arcade were arrested during the raid, as reported by law enforcement. The suspects face felony and misdemeanor charges related to gambling. The CMPD remains dedicated to protecting public safety by investigating and dismantling illegal gambling operations, which often pose a threat to the surrounding community, the CMPD stated. Police have not confirmed if there are additional suspects involved in the illegal gambling operation.
