The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), the state’s gambling regulator, has published its latest financial report, highlighting a new revenue record from legal gambling.
The state recorded a notable increase in gambling revenue year-over-year
The report addresses the Fiscal Year 2024/2025, spanning from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. The Board proudly announced a record-breaking revenue of $6,394,641,819 from regulated gambling statewide. This $6.4 billion figure encompasses revenues from various forms of legal gambling in Pennsylvania, such as casino slots and table games, sports betting, iGaming, video gaming terminals (VGTs), and fantasy sports contests. This figure marks an increase compared to the $5.89 billion reported for the 2023/2024 fiscal year. As revenue climbed year-over-year, so too did the taxes collected from legal gambling in Pennsylvania. In the 2023/2024 fiscal year, tax revenue from regulated gambling was about $2.54 billion. By the latest period, tax revenue surged to nearly $2.8 billion, setting a new record. A press release from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) notes: The reported revenue and tax amounts are estimated and subject to potential adjustments by the PA Department of Revenue. Taxes from regulated gambling activities provide crucial funding for state, county, and local development projects and initiatives, support the agricultural industry, and bolster the Commonwealth's General Fund.
iGaming revenue soars, land-based slots revenue on par with 2023/2024 figure
The gambling regulator's report highlights that the recent revenue growth was significantly influenced by the remarkable rise of iGaming. For the fiscal year 2024/2025, iGaming revenue in Pennsylvania increased to $2.48 billion, reflecting a 27.09% year-over-year increase compared to the previous figure of $1.95 billion. The PGCB's report also indicates that revenue from land-based slot machines across the state remained steady at $2.44 billion, roughly matching last year's results. Conversely, revenue from table games decreased by 3.04% to $928.9 million for the fiscal year 2024/2025. Sports betting revenue saw a slight decline of 0.22% year-over-year, totaling $487.6 million. Revenue from fantasy contests fell by 0.66% to $19.1 million, while VGTs revenue experienced a 0.70% increase, reaching $41.4 million.
