"PHAI Appoints First International Consultant on Gambling Policy"

The Public Health Advocacy Institute (PHAI), a nonprofit legal research center dedicated to public health law, has bolstered its team with a significant new senior appointment. On Thursday, the Institute announced that Dr. Matt Gaskell, MBE, has joined as its inaugural International Consultant on Gambling Policy.

Dr. Gaskell's appointment is a significant milestone in the organization’s ongoing mission to provide comprehensive global public health regulation within the gambling sector. As PHAI's first International Consultant on Gambling Policy, he is well-respected for his work in helping individuals and families overcome gambling-related issues. A licensed psychologist, Dr. Gaskell was honored as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III in 2025 for his efforts in aiding those affected by gambling problems. Additionally, he is acknowledged as a strong advocate for thorough regulation of the gambling industry and is currently serving as a member of the World Health Organization’s Expert Group on Gambling. Dr. Harry Levant, PHAI’s Director of Gambling Policy, expressed his excitement about this appointment, as reported by Casino House Group News.
