According to the Lottery's announcement, a 57-year-old man chose to remain anonymous after his win. He bought his winning ticket at the Speedway gas station located at 1001 West Caro Road in Caro. Initially, the fortunate Tuscola County resident intended to purchase a Triple Red 777s ticket. Unfortunately, upon arriving at the store, he discovered it was sold out. Instead, he decided to try his luck with a $5 Detroit Tigers scratch-off game, which surprisingly won him the game's top prize of $500,000. In an interview with the Michigan Lottery, the winner shared his experience: I went to the gas station to buy a Triple Red 777s ticket, but since they were out, I asked the cashier for a Detroit Tigers ticket, he recounted. I couldn't believe it when I saw I’d won $500,000, but after examining the ticket several times, I convinced myself it was real. After signing the back of the ticket, he returned to the store for the clerk to verify the win. The cashier scanned the ticket and informed him that he needed to visit the Lottery headquarters for his winnings. Reflecting on his win, the man said, Winning $500,000 feels like an answered prayer and hasn’t completely sunk in yet.
