One of the most anticipated esports events in West Virginia, the 2026 Spring West Virginia Scholastic Esports League (WVSEL) finals, wrapped up only recently.

Concord University and Glenville State Esports team up for the exciting event

The prestigious event attracted more than 100 student competitors, who played in a range of popular games, including: Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch and Marvel Rivals, among others. The exciting esports event was organized with the help of Concord University and the Glenville State Esports programs. The two organizations joined forces to co-host the 2026 WVSEL finals, which took place at the Mollohan Campus Community Center on Friday. The University leveraged its ability to organize large-scale campus events and helped propel the popularity of esports in West Virginia. At the same time, the recent esports competition complemented the number of successful events organized with the help of Concord University Esports. So far, the program has played a central role in producing more than a dozen LAN esports events, some of which have enjoyed nationwide popularity.

The finals marked a milestone esports event

Jonathan Rose, Concord Esports’ marketing and brand director, commented: I am incredibly proud to have our student production team involved in this event. Moreover, he said: Showcasing the remarkable esports talent within West Virginia is a core mission at Concord, and capturing unforgettable moments for these students is exactly why we work so hard to deliver a premier tournament experience. Austin Clay, Concord University Esports’ Director, added: We’re incredibly excited to be co-hosting the WVSEL Finals at Glenville State. This event marks a significant step forward for high school and middle school esports in West Virginia,and we’re proud to be part of that growth. He recognized the opportunity to collaborate with Glenville State as excellent, outlining that Concord Esports’ team made everything possible to create a unique event. Last but not least, Clay said he is looking forward to seeing the players give their best and reach a big stage.
