Wynn propels European footprint with the finalization of the purchase of a private members-only club in London
The company has acquired the historic venue from Crown Resorts, completing the purchase following approval from the UK Gambling Commission. This acquisition of Wynn Mayfair represents a significant milestone in Wynn Resorts’ expansion across Europe and the Middle East. By adding Wynn Mayfair, the company enhances its portfolio with this prestigious private members-only club. Located at 27-28 Curzon Street in Mayfair, London, Wynn Mayfair was originally known as the White Elephant Club. With a rich history spanning over six decades, it has hosted a variety of notable guests, including Princess Margaret, Roger Moore, and Shirley Bassey. Currently, the club offers an exclusive gaming area with close to two dozen gaming tables, complemented by a dining and bar area accessible to the public. Wynn Mayfair features 20 gaming tables spread across a rooftop terrace, the main gaming floor, and six private salons. Both club members and public visitors can enjoy a selection of specialty cocktails, fine wines, and popular dishes at the dining area. Wynn Mayfair is distinguished by its blend of contemporary and classical artworks along with a collection of antiques and luxurious furnishings. A highlight of the private gaming club is its inviting rooftop terrace.
The company is going through a busy period
The acquisition of Wynn Mayfair has been completed following Wynn Resorts' decision to step out of the competition for a New York downtown casino license. In mid-May, Wynn Resorts announced its withdrawal, stating that it plans to focus on other projects and strategic objectives. Securing a notable location in London coincides with Wynn Resorts' plan to launch a new casino resort in the Middle East, Wynn Al Marjan Island, in the UAE. The company aims to open the new resort in early 2027.
