The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontairo has tightened the rules in the province, with the regulator now officially issuing fines against two renowned suppliers. The offenses Relax Gaming Limited and Arrise Solutions Limited have to do with an increasingly important part of compliance - allowing a supplier’s games to appear on a website that is operating in a specific jurisdiction without an officia license from the regulatory authority.

AGCO targets suppliers in Ontario market over unregulated websites

With countries around the world placing further pressure on suppliers to ensure that their games are only listed at licensed operators, AGCO is now stepping in to exact the same demands from local suppliers. Dr. Karin Schnarr, CEO and registrar of the AGCO has outlined the enforcement action taken against the companies and the need for it: Ontario’s regulated iGaming market is built on clear rules designed to protect players and hold companies accountable. Unregulated gaming sites operate outside that framework, meaning players have no assurance of fair games, timely withdrawals, or access to meaningful dispute resolution. Dr. Schnarr further cautioned that having regulated games appear on unregulated sites could lead players into real harm. Both suppliers have been fined CA$40,000 as a result. Unregulated gaming sites do not guarantee player protections or information security and increase the potential risk of harm to players and criminal activity, such as money-laundering and match-fixing. That is why the AGCO actively works to combat unlawful gaming in Ontario, the regulator added in an official statement.
