BetBlocker expands with Turkish localization

BetBlocker, the organization that specializes in a self-exclusion tool aimed at reducing people’s gambling-related problems, has launched a new localized service, which has become a hallmark of its entire operations.

The new version is available in Turkish, which gives immediate access to the country’s 90 million people who may be experiencing gambling-related harm in a signature move designed to reach more of the vulnerable gamblers in their mother tongue. BetBlocker has been determined to build a tool that encourages those people who are at-risk or need help to reach out and use it by opting in and excluding themselves from gambling. The tool is built to preserve a person’s anonymity, ensuring that they do not face stigma or backlash because of their relationship with gambling. Translating the service into multiple languages has been an ambitious and arduous process for BetBlocker, with the Turkish localization a major achievement for the organization. Commenting on this, Duncan Garvie, BetBlocker Founder and Trustee, welcomed the opportunity to see his organization work for strengthening the resources available for problem gamblers or those experiencing gambling-related harm in Turkey: BetBlocker is genuinely excited to roll out our second language expansion of 2026. We’ve experienced phenomenal uptake of the service over the last 12 months, and figures have steadily risen. One of the biggest drivers of that growth has been improving the accessibility of our support by meeting users where they are and offering support in the language that they’re most comfortable accessing in. The tool is meant not just for Turkey as a country, but also for the Turkish diaspora in Europe, the Middle East and North America. BetBlocker has brought this project to fruition with the help of Fatmatuz Zehra Pehlivan, a Clinical Psychologist and researcher. As with many of the communities BetBlocker now supports, we would not be able to reach so many people without the kindness and generosity of field experts like Fatmatuz, Garvie added.
