KSA investigates suspected illegal gambling operator
The regulator released a statement detailing its investigation, revealing that the websites failed to block Dutch players and had other issues, such as using auto and turbo play features. Inadequate age verification further influenced the decision to penalize the operator and its brands. Michel Groothuizen, Chair of the KSA, commented on the matter:
Lack of compliance on Techno Offshore Ltd’s part
The two websites offered various sections of their casinos in Dutch, which included payment methods, general terms, and other parts of the site. Importantly, the regulator could not find a clear statement indicating that the Netherlands was excluded from the territories and jurisdictions where these websites were permitted to operate or where players were prohibited from participating. This decision is based on an initial investigation conducted in April of last year, during which a €20 deposit was made as part of the regulator's inquiry. A subsequent enforcement action took place in June. Techno Offshore Limited was issued a cease-and-desist letter, followed by an additional letter of the same nature this February. The regulator has urged players to use only regulated and licensed online casinos in the Netherlands. Recently, the regulator acted against 20 illegal gambling apps, leading to their removal from the Google and Apple Stores.
