EGBA welcomes latest edition of seminal consumer protection event
The key event is a concerted effort to enhance awareness about responsible gambling throughout Europe and to reinforce a culture focused on player protection. This initiative involves collaboration among numerous stakeholders across various jurisdictions within the region that oversee gambling activities. European Safer Gambling Week provides a platform for operators, regulators, support organizations, industry experts, and technology providers to collaboratively tackle problem gambling in the region. Building on the success of the previous year, the fifth edition aims to surpass the achievements of 195 partners, participation from 26 countries, and a reach of 3.1 million social media users with safer gambling messages. By the end of the 2024 campaign, 20 events were held, attracting over 3,000 attendees. Regarding the upcoming fifth edition of European Safer Gambling Week, EGBA Secretary-General Maarten Haijer stated: We're thrilled to announce the dates for European Safer Gambling Week 2025 and are eager to expand on the excellent momentum generated by last year's campaign. Haijer commended the joint efforts, emphasizing the participation of numerous partners, individuals, and target jurisdictions committed to enhancing gambling safety and advocating for player protection. Safe and sustainable gambling is a collective responsibility, and we invite organizations across the industry to join us in this year’s edition to help establish a robust culture of safe and responsible gambling in Europe, he concluded. In 2025, European Safer Gambling Week will lead various social media campaigns and introduce more impactful workshops.
