The Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR), which unites top betting and online gaming operators both within Brazil and around the world, has begun a significant leadership transition. This change comes on the heels of an important announcement from Fernando Vieira, the executive president, who has decided to step down from his senior leadership position.

The executive president spearheaded IBJR's efforts

Vieira stepped into the organization almost a year ago, and as executive president, he has been a pivotal force in the battle against illegal gambling in Brazil. His leadership has been instrumental in IBJR's mission to expand responsible gaming, uniting the regulated industry and nurturing a sustainable market. It has been a privilege to lead IBJR during this pivotal time of regulation. Our vigorous efforts to solidify the Federal Government's regulation of the licensed betting market and combat the illegal sector led to significant achievements, he shared. Vieira further expressed, I take pride in our contributions toward safeguarding consumers and enhancing the sector's credibility. I am confident the organization will continue to make strides in this important mission.

IBJR names interim president

The Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming has announced that its outgoing executive president is embarking on an exciting new career path in a different industry. As a result, the hunt is on to find a worthy successor who will step into Vieira’s shoes. In this period of change, the Institute has turned to André Gelfi, one of its esteemed founders and current director and board member, to lead the charge as the interim president. Founded in 2023 by top betting companies, the Institute stands firm on two core missions: promoting responsible gaming and tackling illegal practices within the sector. It's supported by a roster of prominent gaming and entertainment giants such as Entain, Flutter Brazil, BetMGM, Betsson Group, and Kaizen Gaming.
