The leading provider of gaming, digital and financial technology solutions, IGT, ushers in a new era with Hector Fernandez officially stepping into the role of CEO. On Wednesday, the company confirmed that he assumed his leadership position.

The new CEO has extensive experience

Led by Fernandez, IGT is expected to reach the next phase of growth and innovation, continuing its global expansion and growing its portfolio of partners. Besides the stepping in of the new CEO, the company confirmed that Nick Khin, who previously held the role of interim enterprise CEO and CEO of IGT's Gaming business unit, will be stepping down from his role. Khin will transition to a strategic advisor role, providing invaluable guidance and advice to the senior leadership team, as well as the company's board of directors. A statement released by IGT confirms that Fernandez will assume the CEO role of the combined enterprise and will lead the company's Gaming business unit, too, subject to obtaining the relevant regulatory approvals. On the other hand, Gil Rotem will continue to lead IGT's Digital business unit, while Darren Simmons will maintain his leadership of IGT's FinTech business unit. In October, IGT was recognized with two honors from the Global Gaming Awards Americas.

The incoming CEO is thrilled to lead IGT

Daniel Cohen, Partner at Apollo and Chair of IGT's Board of Directors, spoke with excitement about the latest change to the company's C-suite. Led by Hector and a talented team of leaders from across the legacy IGT Gaming and Digital and Everi businesses, as well as key new hires from inside and outside the industry, we believe the combined enterprise will accelerate growth, enhance product and content innovation, and become an even stronger partner to its customers, he explained. Moreover, Cohen pointed out: Hector shares our commitment to fostering a high-performing, people-first culture, and we are confident he will lead this team to new heights. Fernandez, who only recently assumed the CEO role, added that he is excited and honored to lead IGT into its next phase of growth. He praised the company's leadership, talent and extensive business relations in the gambling vertical. As we bring together the legacy IGT and Everi teams, in partnership with Apollo, we have an opportunity to evolve how we operate, innovate, and deliver for our customers. I'm looking forward to working with our teams around the world to define what's next for IGT, Fernandez added. Speaking about Khin, who will transition to a strategic advisor role, the incoming CEO said: Nick has contributed greatly to IGT's progress over the past twelve years. Fernandez commended Khin for his leadership during the transition period for IGT and thanked him for his dedication.
