Kansspelautoriteit, the Dutch Gambling Authority, has bolstered its Advisory Board with the addition of two esteemed experts. In an announcement made on Monday, the authority revealed the appointment of Prof. Dr. Ingmar Franken and Marjolein Hoogland as its newest board members.

The newly appointed Advisory Board members will serve for a period of three years

Founded in 2014, the KSA’s Advisory Council has been pivotal in guiding the gambling regulator with both sought-after and spontaneous insights. At the helm is Anita Vegter, who leads as chair. With the addition of Franken and Hoogland, the Advisory Board welcomes them to the team alongside current members Peter Kerkhof and Haiko van der Voort. The recent appointments have restored the board's full vigor, as noted by the gambling regulator. The authority expressed its excitement in a statement revealing that Marjolein Hoogland and Prof. Dr. Ingmar Franken have committed to serve on the Advisory Board of the Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) for a term of three years. Meanwhile, three gambling operators faced warnings from the Dutch watchdog last month for infringing upon the Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Prevention Act (Wwft). Despite these warnings, no immediate penalties will be enforced. Nonetheless, the Dutch Gambling Authority emphasized the importance for all license holders to adhere strictly to current laws, underscoring the necessity to follow the Wwft guidelines meticulously.

The Advisory Board members have extensive experience

Franken is currently a full-time professor of Clinical Psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam and leads the Centre for Addiction and Substance Research in the city. His wealth of experience and specialized knowledge make him an invaluable member of the Advisory Board of the KSA. Meanwhile, Hoogland serves as the National Chief Advocate General for the Public Prosecution Service at the District Court of The Hague. Her impressive career at the court also includes her time as Deputy Chief Prosecutor. Recently, the KSA released its second assessment of the upcoming changes to gambling regulations in 2024.
