Light & Wonder prepares for further growth with UAE license
Light & Wonder has obtained a gaming-related vendor license from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority. This allows the company to provide its gaming machines at the upcoming Wynn Al-Marjan Island casino resort, scheduled to open in early 2027. The license covers the company's table games, electronic gaming machines, and iGaming services and products. Light & Wonder has praised this achievement, viewing it as a significant step towards strengthening its presence in the UAE, which is experiencing rapid growth and discussions about expanding legal gaming activities. Currently, Wynn Al-Marjan Island is anticipated to be the only major gambling venue in the area. However, the introduction of sports betting and iGaming is expected in the coming years, providing early market entrants a strategic advantage. Reflecting on the early approval from the GCGRA, Light & Wonder CEO and President Matt Wilson stated, Securing a license from the GCGRA is an important milestone for Light & Wonder as we enter one of the most anticipated new regulated markets in the world. We’re honored to be among the first approved suppliers and are committed to bringing our trusted, responsible, and player-first approach to the UAE. As regulatory frameworks continue to develop, more market changes are likely. The licensing of major companies signals the beginning of these advancements.
