The Mega Millions jackpot has remained unclaimed for quite some time now. Currently standing at $576 million, this impressive prize has been increasing steadily for weeks. No one has yet claimed the top prize, which will be up for grabs again on Tuesday, July 7. It's been unclaimed for 31 consecutive drawings.
Five near-misses in California, but no-one beats the Mega Millions odds
In California, several tickets matched the five numbers but missed the crucial Mega number needed for the multi-million-dollar prize, coming tantalizingly close. The winning numbers from the last drawing were 5, 9, 29, 47, 57, and a Mega number of 16, with a jackpot of $542 million at the time. Meanwhile, in Pennsylvania, a ticket secured a $3 million prize, marking one of the largest wins during this current stretch. However, neither the tickets from California nor the one from Pennsylvania—or anywhere else in the U.S.—managed to beat the overwhelming odds of 1 in 290,472,336. As a new drawing approaches on Tuesday, July 7, the multi-million-dollar prize will be up for grabs again. Nonetheless, big jackpots continue to emerge across the country. If not through Mega Millions, another major lottery, Powerball, crowned a new winner in Indiana. A $143 million ticket was jointly won by two people back on April 29, 2026. One of those winners has now come forward to claim their share of the prize, totaling roughly $71.7 million.
Indiana Powerball winner scoops their share of prize
An Indiana player, choosing to stay anonymous, opted for a one-time lump sum payment instead of annuity installments, amounting to $32,600,000 after taxes. Indiana's history with Powerball dates back to the game's first jackpot winner in 1992, and over thirty years later, we continue to make history, said Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah M. Taylor. Another winning ticket for the Powerball jackpot was sold in Kansas.
