A woman from Montcalm County was in shock and screamed continuously for 30 minutes after winning a life-changing $1 million prize in the Michigan Lottery's Electric 100s instant game. The Lottery recently announced that the 57-year-old woman, who has chosen to stay anonymous, secured the first top prize in the popular $10 scratch-off game, which was launched earlier this month.
Screams of joy after $1m instant game jackpot win
The fortunate winner purchased her ticket at Zerka's General Store at 1249 North Greenville Road in Stanton. While speaking with a Michigan Lottery official, she recounted that she was on the phone with her daughter as she scratched off the ticket. Suddenly, she spotted a lightbulb symbol, which in the Electric 100s game signifies a winning prize next to it. To her amazement, the prize was $1MIL, prompting her to scream with joy. My daughter thought something bad had happened because I kept yelling, 'No way!' the woman remembered. She eventually told her daughter about the $1 million win, but her daughter was initially skeptical. The winner admitted to being in disbelief herself, which led her to verify the ticket using the Michigan Lottery's app. I scanned it on the Lottery app, and when $1 million appeared, I screamed for 30 minutes straight! I’m still in awe and can’t believe I’m actually here claiming $1 million, she expressed. Recently, the lucky winner visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. Although she had the option of receiving the full $1 million in annuity payments, she chose a one-time lump sum payment of $693,000. She shared with a Lottery official her plans to invest part of the money, purchase a house, and share the winnings with her family.
Two $1m prizes remain in play from Electric 100s
Suzanna Shkreli, the Michigan Lottery's Commissioner, congratulated the fortunate player who became the first to win the top prize in the Electric 100s game. This game is part of the Electric series of instant games that launched earlier this month. She also highlighted that the Electric series not only offers players the chance to win millions in prizes instantly but also provides an opportunity to enter non-winning tickets into a second-chance drawing for a chance to win $1 million at a Detroit Tigers game later this year. Launched this month, the Electric 100s instant game is priced at $10 per play, with prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million. This recent win is the first top prize awarded in the game, leaving two more $1 million prizes still available. Additionally, a second-tier prize in the Electric 100s awards $1,000, with 108 such prizes up for grabs. The odds of winning any prize in the Electric 100s instant game are 1 in 3.63.
