One worker who had just finished his night shift was surprised by a life-changing prize. On Thursday, The Lott confirmed that a single division one entry in Australia took down Weekday Windfall’s top prize for a sweet AU$1m ($686,500) payday.

The fortunate winner, an Endeavour Hills man, purchased his winning 30-game QuickPick entry from The Lott’s official app. Weekday Windfall’s drawing on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, saw winning numbers 38, 14, 11, 20, 42 and 30, along with supplementary numbers 12 and 1 drawn. Interestingly, there was a single division one winning entry from that particular draw across Australia, the one held by the Victoria resident.
Fortunate winner considers buying a new home with a pool
Contacted by the lottery on Thursday, the fortunate man revealed that he had just finished his night shift. The lucky winner said: I’ve just stepped out of work. I’d just finished my night shift and walked out the door when you rang me. What a surprise. Oh my god, I’m about to have a heart attack! That’s good news! That’s a big surprise, he added. The Weekday Windfall winner explained that after hearing the good news, he is leaving work stress-free. He said that while he usually sleeps after the night shift, this time, he won’t be getting near his bed. With the thought of the life-changing prize sinking in, the winner admitted that he already has plans. I’ve got a home loan to pay off first, and I’d love to buy a new house with a swimming pool. It’s always been something we’ve wanted for the kids, and now we can, the Endeavour Hills man said. At the same time, he acknowledged that he would need to take a break from work and go on holiday. Finally, he once again thanked the lottery for the amazing news.
