Summary

  • ROGA and RGC have joined forces to launch an innovative certification program aimed at rigorously evaluating the RG commitments of operators across the United States.
  • The new program is designed to lead the charge in enhancing consumer protections by utilizing a solid, evidence-based strategy.
  • In a powerful alliance, both organizations have joined forces before to champion RG and spotlight the resources available.

The Responsible Online Gaming Association, which controls a remarkable 90% of the sports betting market in the United States, has joined forces with the Responsible Gambling Council. Together, they are set to launch a groundbreaking Responsible Gambling Certification across the nation.

ROGA and RGC to develop a new certification program assessing operator RG commitment

The initiative's aim is straightforward: to create a data-driven, evidence-based certification model that highlights operators dedicated to fostering a safe gambling environment by prioritizing player well-being. This program is designed to provide guidance in critical areas like self-exclusion strategies, marketing, staff training, and player support tools. Each area will be independently reviewed to ensure operators meet the high standards required for responsible gambling and player safety. Dr. Jennifer Shatley, the Executive Director of ROGA, is excited about the formation of this groundbreaking initiative. She emphasized the importance of building a sustainable online gaming industry on solid, evidence-based practices, noting how the partnership with RGC will enhance this mission by establishing a trusted and independent assessment for certifying strong responsible gaming standards. For over 40 years, RGC has led the way in player protection, advocating for prevention and responsible gambling solutions globally. The council plays a vital role in shaping responsible gambling strategies for both iGaming and land-based businesses. It is precisely this wealth of expertise that will drive ROGA’s own certification program, setting new benchmarks for the industry. RGC CEO Sarah McCarthy echoed this enthusiasm, expressing her satisfaction in collaborating with ROGA on such an essential venture. This new certification program will be built on years of evidence-based work and the experience of establishing RG Check as a reliable standard. Through our collaboration, we are fostering a more transparent, accountable, and player-centric industry, McCarthy stated.

RGC and ROGA continue strong collaboration on RG initiatives

This collaboration isn't a first for these two organizations; they've joined forces before, tackling similar initiatives with great determination. Together, they've embarked on joint research to delve deeper into how players can engage more meaningfully with responsible gambling tools. They've also collaborated on Know Your Play, a public awareness movement aimed at promoting the importance of responsible gaming. Now, ROGA and RGC are taking their partnership to a new level. They are launching a groundbreaking program that seeks to immediately certify all of ROGA's members. Each member will be closely examined to ensure they align with the standards the program is committed to upholding.
