The $50,000 win comes as a blessing
The fortunate lottery player confessed that he often buys lottery tickets. However, on the day he purchased the winning Money Bags ticket from Thirsty's in Delmar, he had different plans. This Delaware resident crossed over into Maryland because the traffic in his area was especially bad. Although he had attempted to stop earlier for a drink, the heavy traffic made him wait until he crossed into Maryland. In an interview with a Maryland Lottery official, he remarked, There was no particular reason for buying a ticket then. The thought just came to me. Reflecting on the moment he was caught in traffic, followed by winning the $50,000 prize soon after, he stated, It was frustrating at the time, but in hindsight, that traffic was quite a blessing. When he realized he had won $50,000, he felt both relieved and incredulous. His girlfriend used the Maryland Lottery's app to verify the $50,000 win. The winner informed a lottery official that he intends to use part of his winnings to pay bills and plans to help family members with the remainder.

Each Money Bags ticket costs $10 and gives players the chance to win prizes ranging from $10 to $250,000. When the scratch-off game launched, there were five top prizes of $250,000 available. Currently, three of these top prizes remain. Initially, the Maryland Lottery offered four second-tier prizes of $50,000 each with the Money Bags ticket. Following a recent win, only one $50,000 prize is still available. The third-tier prize in this popular scratch-off game is $10,000, and there are 10 such prizes left. In the lower prize tiers, ranging from $1,000 to $10, thousands of prizes are still up for grabs. The odds of winning any prize with a $10 ticket are 1 in 3.50.
